Interpreting qualifications
To be a fully qualified interpreter working with Cintra, new interpreters must have one of the following for every language in which they wish to be registered.
- Registration on the National Register of Public Service Interpreters
- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
- British Sign Language, Deaf and Deafblind manual interpreters and lipspeakers must be on the Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP) register at CACDP level 4
- Metropolitan Police Test (for police interpreters only)
- IND or IAA assessment certificate (Home Office)
- Interpreting and/or translation degree, or languages degree with an interpreting component of at least 25%
To be registered with Cintra as a trainee interpreter, new interpreters must have one of the following for every language in which they wish to be registered. There are limitations on assignments carried out by trainee interpreters.
- Have attended a full Cintra Introduction to Interpreting
Course and have passed Cintra's assessment as 'safe to practice'.
- Have attended a similar interpreting course with another agency or language service, passed their assessment and obtained a certificate.
