Cintra is one of the United Kingdoms leading public service interpreting organisations, offering a complete interpreting and translation service to the public sector in the East of England and the East Midlands.
Cintra is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, with a Board of Directors drawn from its stakeholder and professional constituency. Cintra celebrated its tenth anniversary as a company in 2007, and has played a major role at national level in helping to develop the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) and quality standards and training for interpreters.
Cintras customers include local authorities and the voluntary sector in Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire; hospitals and Primary Care Trusts in the East of England; Norfolk Constabulary; the National Probation Service in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, and the five police services in the East Midlands.
Every month, Cintra manages around 2,500 face-to-face interpreter bookings, in over 95 languages. We specialise in providing highly trained and qualified interpreters on a 24-hour, 7-day per week basis. As well as face-to-face interpreting, Cintra offers translations and telephone interpreting.
Since its inception, Cintra has adopted the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI) and its equivalents as the key standard for effective service provision. Cintra is a registered DPSI examination centre, running our own DPSI and Metropolitan Police Test courses each year and DPSI examinations for our own and other learners in the region.
All our interpreters are security vetted to police standards, and agree to abide by our Code of Conduct. Our training is complemented by a programme of Continuing Professional Development.
