Our mission

Cintras mission is simply 'widening access to public services'. This mission statement is part of our company logo.

Our guiding values

  • A 'not for profit company'

We need to make profits to keep the company viable, but profit is the sustaining force to underpin our mission rather than our raison detre. All profits, beyond those required for sustainability, are invested in the development of the business and the recruitment, assessment, training and continuous development of interpreters and our other staff.

  • Delivering high-quality services, putting our clients at the heart of what we do

Our investment in quality through training, continuing professional development and interpreter support is important in ensuring customer satisfaction. Equally, the role of interpreters is very demanding and we believe that they deserve access to appropriate support. Interpreters are our main ambassadors to our clients they must act professionally at all times and should be recognised by our clients as providing a professional service.

  • An ethical company

We require high standards of integrity and confidentiality from our interpreters, staff and directors. We believe that

    • All members of the community should have the right to equal access to effective public services.

    • To deliver their services equally and effectively to speakers of languages other than English, service-providers need appropriate translating and interpreting services to be in place.

    • Interpreters should be qualified to the required professional standards, which we recognise to be the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting and its equivalents at NQF level 6, and CACDP Level 4. All interpreters must be fully trained and assessed to ensure a high-quality service.

    • Interpreters should receive appropriate financial reward and professional support from agencies for which they work.

    • All our clients, service users, interpreters and staff should be valued, respected and treated fairly and equally by Cintra.
Cintra seeks to work together with those whose aim is to improve standards of interpreting and access to public services for those who need them. If you would like to discuss this, please contact the Chief Executive.
