Make sure your website follows this advice as well! I assume that you've submited your site to search engines so people can find you. Also think about normal advertising, in newspapers etc. But you must consider WHY should people buy from you! Are your goods cheaper, or better quality? Is it something people want but can't get locally? Is home delivery a convenience rather than a chore? People don't buy things just because they're on the internet! Posted 07/03/2003 by Becky Innes The 23rd Cambridge Film Festival 2003 runs from 10th to 20th July at the Arts Picture House and selected venues across the Eastern region. The 22nd Cambridge Film Festival in July 2002 was the most successful yet, with nearly 16,000 attendees for around 200 screenings, including 50 UK Premieres, and thousands more attending drive-in movies, free outdoor screenings and touring events across the Eastern region. Posted 16/12/2002 by Mel I no longer have an address box. Perhaps my wife did a drag. But trying to drag it back has failed. I searched everywhere on the screen. I went to view then toolbar and have the necessary checkmarks --------- Reply by web administrator This query came in on feedback, but the email address given bounced, so I'm replying here. I presume that you mean the Address Box in the Internet Explorer browser screen. You can get rid of this using View, which might be what your wife (or you!) have done. To get it back: Click on View (top of screen) Move cursor to Toolbars A drop-down menu will appear with 'Address bar' on it. Click on 'Address Bar' When the 'Address bar' is correctly set, it should have a tick by it. I can't actually manage to get rid of the address bar by dragging. All that happened was that the address bar reformatted itself and joined the line above which was disconcertingly enough! Posted 03/10/2002 by JohnE T Proud when are we going to get an honest answer to the question of Chesterton High Street and the traffic calming measures which are being forced on the residents of east chesterton. Not only is rate payers money being wasted, but the article printed in the local paper tonight, just does not ring true to me. All this nonsense about waiting for , materials from China seems a little far fetched to me,it is almost as bad as when you brought those Italians over to do Green Street, which to me is a disgrace, I sure we could have found british craftsman to have done a better job , also when are you going to realise that, for in my opinion you were taken for a ride there, more rate payers money down the drain also when are we who live the two Fen estates going to be included in any future plans for the area, the amount of weeds growing out of the kerbstones is a diagrace, and please if you are going to spray them make sure you employ a man to walk round to do the Job properly, and not sit on his behind in a van driven by a workmate and sits there with the nearside door open spraying indiscrimanatly, I am sure the cost must be double also the footpaths in Chesterton are a disgrace, after all the cable work they have been left like patchwork quilts, I will close there although I could with a lot complaints about the area. Posted 14/10/2002 by Aimi MacCormac APU launches two new courses for Business Free business courses continue at APU (Anglia Polytechnic University) after the European Social Fund office secured funding for two more courses one taking on the strains of running a family business and the second looking at international issues facing small businesses. The new courses specifically aimed at family and small business are funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) which means APU can provide them free of charge. Both are provided through distance learning to make it easier for company employees to study. Family run businesses can get an insight into the characteristics of this type of business and the issues facing them through the Family Matters course. The course will help to create an appropriate strategy for any family business. Making the leap into to international trade is hard for any business, but for small businesses working out how to take advantage of business opportunities abroad can be a daunting prospect. Globalise is the second new ESF course, which allows students to study how to expand their business overseas. Starting with an audit, the course examines whether the students company is ready to enter the international market. Further modules focus on the practical aspects of marketing, legal implications, freight and foreign finance. ESF funding has made it possible to provide several business courses for free to local companies and employees. The success of these projects has been given national acclaim and this year SOLNET, one of the ESF courses for small businesses won The Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI) award for best new learning media. For more information please contact Aimi MacCormac [email protected], tel:01245 493131 extension 4875. Posted 24/09/2002 by David Green I will be running a Bicycle Maintenance Day in Coleridge Community College, Radegund Road, Cambridge on Saturday 9 November 2002. This is a condensed version of the 'Bicycle Maintenance 1' evening course, which doesn't aim to turn you into an expert, but gives you the skills and confidence to start tackling common bicycle tasks yourself. The day is structured in sessions which teach you how to: correctly adjust saddle and handlebar height; fix punctures and change tyres; clean and lubricate your chain; adjust your brakes and gears for optimum performance. This is a practical workshop where you should, quite literally, expect to get your hands dirty. A useful and fun day. See Information sheet. Cambridge Online City has some links to discussions in Cambridge, but I don't think there are any chat offering computer help. There is online help about computers and the internet. These are online glossaries and fact sheets, not chat 1-1 to an advisor. Cambridge Online City is not responsible for the content of any of sites - we just offer links that might be useful. We have our own online guide to the intenet for beginners. There are various courses in computing in Cambridge, see Community Learning Centre project. Some of these are free, as they are funded through various grants. Or you could try the original shop where you bought your computer. But I doubt that anyone would fund a free advice chat site. It is extremely difficult to offer advice to someone about their computer for even the simplest problem. Computers are set up differently, and unless you can see the set-up directly, you don't know what's going on. People tend to know only their own set-up, and so couldn't help someone else. An expert who had enough technical expertise to understand a wide range of problems, and enough communication skills to pass on his knowledge, can earn a high salary. Why should he man a free help-line? Who is going to pay him? Posted 17/07/2002 by Geoff A Cooper re neighbourhood watch scheme I live in studio flat armitage way. Checked out garden area this am.
