History of 12 Gwydir Street

George Kerry, a boot salesman, lived in 12 Gwydir St in 1904 (see 1904 Spalding's Directory). Reuben Elsden, an engine fitter, lived in 12 Gwydir St in 1913 (see 1913 Spalding's Directory).

Nick Bryant emailed me in 2011:

My Grandfather George (called John?!) Tyrrell was brought up (along with his sibblings Vera, Barbara and Morris) in Sturton Street by his Father Tom Tyrrell and I think we have roots to around the mid 1880's in the area. Grandad's Grandfather (William Tyrrell) used to live in Norfolk Terrace and is buried in Mill Rd Cemetary. I know too that he had relatives on Gwydir Street. I believe Uncle Dick (Chemist) & Laura Tyrrell next to the Beaconfield Club (No 12?) and Aunt Winifred Coppell (nee Tyrrell) had a Grocer's shop during the 1970's.
