This is going to seem very strange...
I don't believe in any of this, but perhaps I'm wrong! Anyway, I was investigating Health links for Cambridge Online City. I wanted some complementary health sites, but I couldn't find any general British site which covered everything. So someone challenged me to make one!
I have tried to find the official British bodies for any discipline, plus good sites which give online information. The description of each discipline were 'lifted' from these websites.
Please regard these health disciplines as Complementary rather than Alternate. For all serious conditions (and remember that they may start from trivial symptoms), PLEASE see your doctor. However, for minor complaints, or where conventional medicine has failed, then perhaps some of these disciplines might help.
If anyone knows any good sites to add here, or wishes to comment on this site, then email me, at [email protected].

Chiropractic

Chiropractors use their hands to adjust the joints of your spine and extremities where signs of restriction in movement are found, improving mobility and relieving pain. Your body's own healing processes (which we normally recognise in its ability to heal bruises, cuts and broken bones) will then be able to get on with the task of improving your health. This treatment is known as 'adjustment' or 'manipulation'.

A Modern Herbal 1931
This herbal states in the introduction "The interest for the amateur can only be an historical one, because the herbal tinctures and extracts are too potent to be prescribed or experimented with by the unskilled or the inexperienced; in fact, it is as dangerous for amateurs to doctor themselves indiscriminately with herbs, as is would be for them to administer drugs in their alkaloid form." However, it does describe the plants, and how to grow them.

Reiki

In a Reiki Healing session, the practitioner places his or her hands onto the patients body at a number of strategic points. The patient almost always feels the energy begin to flow into them, either as a heat, a coldness, or a strange "flow" through their body, often in places remote from the point at which the practitioner has their hands. Reiki is said to "know" where it is needed, and flows to the point where it can do most good.
