I read music at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, and then specialised in the cello at the Royal Academy of Music, London, with David Strange. I continued my studies with Joan Dickson and William Pleeth. I undertake both solo work and chamber music engagements.
In 2016 - 17 I played Shostakovich's 1st cello concerto with Letchworth Sinfonia, and I returned in January 2018 to perform Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations with them. 2017 - 2018 has also seen return visits to play for the Szeged Society and concert series at Emmanuel United Reformed Church and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. I also returned to give concerts at St Bride's, Fleet Street, London, and to Scotland to play for St Giles at Six, in Edinburgh, and Moffat Music Society.
I also play for weddings and special occasions as a soloist and in chamber groups.
As a cello teacher I give private lessons to pupils aged from 6 to over 70, from complete beginners to diploma standard. Music theory and aural training are also offered. One to one tuition can be supplemented with ensemble classes, and I occasionally run workshops which give pupils a chance to perform with piano accompaniment in front of their peers.
