Hearing Help Sessions in local areas around South Cambridgeshire villages, East Cambridgeshire including Ely, and Cambridge City, offering advice and hearing aid care including re-tubing NHS hearing aids.

Talks to Groups. Speakers are available on all aspects of hearing impairment and can create a greater awareness of the problems and how they can be overcome. Talks can include deaf awareness, simulated deafness, information on hearing aids and how to insert them and demonstrations of some of the basic equipment to help hear the television, radio, telephone and door bell. These talks are suitable for any groups such as staff in health related settings, or anyone working or interested in working with the general public. Everyone needs to be aware of the needs of hearing impaired people.
Contributions towards travel expenses are requested. Donations towards the campaign are very welcome.

    Training
Training courses cover subjects such as the structure of the ear; types and causes of deafness, NHS hearing aids, their maintenance and limitations, procedures for assessment, communication methods etc. The use of environmental aids and how to retube are also taught. Training is compulsory for all new volunteers. Application for courses should be made to the Organiser.
