For example, COLC now provides pointers to the numerous excellent sources of "what's on" information. COLC has focused on collecting, assembling, and presenting information - giving priority to material that will be useful or interesting to local people or organizations. The second major goal in the development of the COLC website has been providing a forum for community involvement and online publishing. Initially, many community groups created and published information thanks to the support of COLC volunteers. We wished to expand the delivery of this publishing service, and to enable community groups and local individuals not only to publish information online but also to update that information independently. This has now been achieved thanks to the development of appropriate software. Webpages created by local individuals are showcased in their own section of the COLC website. In addition, members of the public are encouraged to propose additional links for the COLC website, and COLC also promotes well-maintained local bulletin boards. COLC's current website has been designed to make it easy for newcomers to the internet. Its main goals are to be easy and efficient to use, in helping anyone find information whether it be local or global. Feedback on what COLC can do to improve this website further or on what you have particularly liked is always welcome. |
