Pathways

Following a major exhibition of adaptive technology in early 1998, involving both suppliers and prospective disabled users, Cambridge Online City established in February 1999 the Pathways Project. This has been running successfully ever since, aiming to: link disabled people with information technology (IT); to offer opportunities for exploring adaptive computer equipment; to give guidance, training and advice; to provide access to the internet; and to be a broad-based local resource for local individuals and organizations.

Its dedicated training centre at the Hester Adrian Centre on Hawthorn Way (off Chesterton Road) in Cambridge offers disabled users and their carers opportunities to try out voice recognition and other software, as well as specialised key boards, mice, and other equipment. Interest has been sustained and keen. Free sessions can be booked with COLC's professional trainers at the centre, who will demonstrate best use of IT, and train people in the use of software packages.

To contact the Pathways Project, you can phone (01223) 300407, or email [email protected], or write to:
