How and Why COLC Started

Cambridge Online City is an initiative established by Anne Campbell MP in 1995 (see project history), in order to increase access to public information through the use of the internet. It was clear even in 1995 that, as the internet took off, those without the appropriate skills or access would be left behind. COLC works to ensure that opportunities to develop relevant skills and use high quality equipment are available to the whole community. A strength of the project has been the partnership of diverse groups and organisations committed to this objective, harnessing the support of local businesses, public authorities, voluntary groups as well as dedicated individuals.
