Cherry Kids Club

Policy for the
Induction of New Children

Cherry Kid's Club recognises the importance of its first introduction to children's lives, both to ensure that they can quickly use the Club to their own benefit; and to relieve anxiety that they may feel regarding unfamiliar surroundings and a new social environment. To these ends the Club exercises the following policy regarding the induction a new child (this policy can also be found in the Club Handbook):

1.1         the child and parents will be invited to come and see the club on a quiet day before the child's first day;

1.2        the Club encourages the first attendance not to exceed half a session;

1.3        early in each child's first attendance a short time will be set aside for an induction period;

1.4        during this period a member of staff will outline the Club's rules and how and when things happen in the club (e.g. meal times, collection, children's meetings, telling off);

1.5        whenever practically possible another child will be allocated to act as the new child's mentor for the rest of the day and afterwards, for about two weeks.
